South Korea Launches ROKS Jeju, Fourth FFX Batch-III Frigate

SK Oceanplant launched ROKS Jeju (FFG-832), the fourth Ulsan-class Batch III (Chungnam-class) frigate for the Republic of Korea Navy, at its Goseong shipyard on April 29, 2026. The 3,600-ton-class vessel (4,300 tons full load) is 129 meters long with a beam of 15 meters and maximum speed of 30 knots. It features an integrated sensor mast with a domestically developed phased-array radar and IRST system, plus a hybrid propulsion system combining electric propulsion with gas turbine. The ship strengthens ROKN capabilities across air defense, anti-surface, land-attack, and anti-submarine warfare. Delivery to the Navy is scheduled for June 2027.
