Hyundai Rotem K2 Wins Korea's First NATO Quality Certification
Hyundai Rotem won NATO's AQAP-2110 quality certification for the K2 Black Panther tank family — the first South Korean defense product to earn it — clearing a key prerequisite for NATO procurement tenders. The certification was awarded by the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality (DTaQ) and covers the K2 main battle tank plus its recovery, bridge-laying, and mine-clearing variants, verifying that quality assurance requirements are met throughout design and production. AQAP-2110 (Allied Quality Assurance Publication) is required to supply defense equipment to NATO member states, meaning the K2 family now meets the qualification requirements to compete across the alliance. The milestone lands alongside the Korea–NATO procurement pact talks opened at the Ankara summit, and strengthens Hyundai Rotem's position in live European competitions — notably Romania's 216-vehicle tank program and the pending third Polish K2 contract.
