UAE Cheongung-II (M-SAM) Air Defense System

The UAE signed a $3.5B contract for 10 Cheongung-II (M-SAM Block II) air defense batteries produced by LIG Nex1, Hanwha Systems, and Hanwha Aerospace. At least 2 batteries integrated into the UAE air defense network by early 2026. In its March 2026 combat debut, the system's first combat use overseas, it reportedly achieved an interception rate of more than 90 percent against Iranian missile and drone attacks. UAE made emergency request for 30+ additional interceptors.
